About The Divorce Doula

Meet Elizabeth Thomson

“First, get all your ducks in a row.”

That was the advice Elizabeth received when she knew she was going to ask her then-husband for a divorce. The problem was, she didn’t even know what the ducks were, let alone how to line them up.

Divorce, she quickly learned, isn’t just a legal process; it’s emotional, logistical, and deeply personal. Beyond the paperwork and legal steps are the countless details no one prepares you for: opening new bank accounts, transferring bills, finding therapists, understanding your rights, and rebuilding a sense of self—all while navigating the emotional toll of daily life.

Elizabeth had hoped for an amicable divorce, but when things became complicated, she realized how much she needed someone to truly listen and guide her through each decision. From connecting with the right attorney and financial advisor to finding parenting resources and emotional support, she relied on an incredible community to help her through. That experience planted a powerful seed: no one should have to go through this alone.

That realization became the foundation for The Divorce Doula, where Elizabeth now helps others find clarity, confidence, and connection through one of life’s most difficult transitions. Much like a birth doula supports families through pregnancy and delivery, Elizabeth serves as a compassionate guide through separation and divorce—providing structure, emotional support, and vetted resources to help clients move forward with strength and assurance.

Her approach blends empathy with practical strategy, empowering clients not just to survive divorce but to rebuild a life rooted in peace, purpose, and possibility.

When she’s not supporting clients, Elizabeth finds joy in the everyday moments that keep her grounded: spending time with her children and cheering them on at soccer and field hockey games, walking her two dogs, tending to her garden, baking for friends, and finding balance through exercise. These simple pleasures remind her daily of the resilience we all carry, and the beauty that can grow from even the hardest seasons.
